ATF Fluid Control Adaptor The H Adapter simplifies and improves safety when carrying out oil exchanges on JLR and Ford vehicles fitted with thermostats in the oil cooler lines. The unit connects directly to the ATF machine, with oil pipes attached to the adapter. This allows the vehicle to be hooked up to the machine while cold, avoiding the risk of burns from disconnecting at full operating temperature. At the machine end, stop valves are fitted. These are switched to “closed,” opening a cross-section that allows oil to circulate (loop) between the car and the machine. This enables the vehicle to warm up safely while the machine, switched out of the loop, brings the oil up to 80°C. Once both the car and the machine are at the correct temperature, the car is briefly turned off, the machine valves opened, and the cross-pipe closed. The car is then restarted, and the oil exchange process begins. After the exchange is complete, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for checking oil levels. Some vehicles require a hot check, while others require a cold check. Ensuring the correct procedure is followed will prevent underfilling or overfilling.
