Description
The Sykes-Pickavant KM Socket Kit is designed for the safe, accurate installation and removal of KM locknuts - specialised precision nuts used to secure bearings and other critical components on shafts. These nuts feature slots around their circumference, which means a standard socket or spanner cannot be used without risking damage to the nut or shaft.
KM sockets are purpose-built tools that engage directly with the nut’s slots, providing a positive drive connection that distributes torque evenly. This prevents slippage, rounding, or distortion - common issues when improvised tools are used - and helps maintain the integrity of both the locknut and the component it secures.
This set covers KM sizes 4 to 10, and comes with extension pieces to allow easy access to deep seated lock nuts, providing compatibility with a wide range of industrial and automotive applications, including:
