Safe Welding on Electric Vehicles
Current industry protocols generally prohibit welding on electric vehicles while the high-voltage battery remains connected, due to the risk of electrical discharge, damage to sensitive electronic systems, and potential safety hazards.
The EV Safe system provides a controlled grounding solution that allows welding operations to be carried out more safely. When connected to the vehicle, the EV Safe unit enables the welding earth cable to be attached directly to a designated vehicle grounding point while simultaneously connecting to an independently earthed power supply.
This creates a dedicated path for any stray electrical current or induced discharge generated during the welding process, helping to dissipate electrical energy safely away from the vehicle's high-voltage systems. By maintaining an effective grounding connection, the EV Safe system reduces the risk of electrical damage and supports safer repair procedures in line with workshop best practices.
